Video in reports - Liability

NACHI - Wed, 06/05/2013 - 11:43
I have recently added video in to my reports and have be given a suggestion not to use video for liability reasons. I send the client a electronic copy of the report right away, and then mail them a hard copy.

"You have included videos that cannot be included in a written report. This means that the report in it's printed format, or in the PDF format in which you supplied it to me, is incomplete. I recommend that you not try include videos, they just complicate matters. If you insist on doing so, you should ask your attorney about the liability attached to providing an incomplete report"

Can anyone offer suggestions on legal jargon to keep using videos, or a good way to go about it. Videos is a unique selling point for me!

Thanks.

Price on older Bcam?

NACHI - Wed, 06/05/2013 - 09:28
An inspector in my area is retiring and selling a Flir BCAM he purchased new in 2007, last calibrated in 2011. It looks to be in good shape. I'm thinking of picking it up if the price is right. He told me to make him an offer, what should I offer him?

Continuing education

NACHI - Tue, 06/04/2013 - 21:03
Where EXACTLY do you find courses for these 6 separate courses. I can't find anything on inspection methods, reporting and professional practice. They are under the CE page and don't come up if you search for them. Thanks in advance.

The continuing education must include: 2 hours in building systems; 6 hours in general; 2 hours in hurricane mitigation; 2 hours in inspection methods; 1 hour in reporting; and 1 hour in professional practice.

Anyone know a good carpenter in Philadelphia?

NACHI - Mon, 06/03/2013 - 18:16
Hey guys,

I'm looking at a house in Philly that would need to have some rotting joists in the basement crawlspace repaired/replaced. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good carpenter to call?

Thanks!

Nathan Thornberry breaks the law...

NACHI - Sun, 06/02/2013 - 18:56
I have insider information that in fact, Nathan Thornberry tore the tag off the mattress within his house. I paid off his house keeper and she has confirmed and has photos of NO tag on the mattress. I am consulting with other on this board on how to proceed. I have notified the FBI, CIA and the local authorities. Turning him into the INACHI ethics board as well.

Let see him squirm his way out of this one!

Good thing I am here to protect the inspectors of this organization. But this is just my opinion, and it cannot be held against me. Please consult with you local mattress manufacture and the local authorities, local building code officials and of the you state attorneys.

I have a call into the Florida Attorney General and she said that is was highly illegal and should never ever be done. I forget her name, and the phone number, I thing she said it was Mary...Yea Mary...

I will hold the rest of my conversation with Mary very very close and when the Seal team six swoops in, then we all know....

Stay tuned, I also think he even ripped on off a pillow but my private investigator still has no definitive proof....YET!
